Assessment of Brain Injury Mechanisms

As we continue to see an increase in litigation involving claims of brain injuries in all types of accidents, the Biomechanics Team at Vector Scientific, Inc. (VSI) is at the forefront of brain injury biomechanics research and forensic analysis of the mechanism and risk of brain injuries including mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and Traumatic Induced Neurological Disorder (TIND).

Vector Scientific experts apply the latest biomechanical data to assess brain injury risk in motor vehicle collisions, sports/recreation, and industrial/occupational accidents.

VSI Biomechanical Engineer Michio Clark, Ph.D.’s casework involves the investigation of brain injuries associated with falling objects (also known as “struck by” injuries), those sustained when the head strikes a stationary object, and falls.

Dr. Clark recently assessed the risk of concussion for a case in which a showerhead assembly was propelled from its mounted location and struck an individual in the head.

In another incident, he evaluated the risk of concussion when an electromagnetic lock fell from its mounted location resulting in a head impact.

Please contact Michio (720.734.1055; mclark@vectorscientific.com) to discuss how Vector Scientific’s injury biomechanics team can provide analysis of biomechanical forces and associated brain injury risk involved in your brain injury cases including providing expert testimony to educate the jury regarding mechanisms and differences between mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI/concussion), TBI, and chronic brain injuries.
